Overview
Mariolina is a stacking chair by Enzo Mari, designed in 2002 for Magis. The frame is chromed or painted steel tube and the seat and back are polypropylene.
Construction
The polypropylene seat and back are not screwed or riveted to the frame; they are attached by a series of moulded ribs that grip the metal frame at the rear of the seat and back. The steel tube legs are slimmer and more precise in section than the fifties-style chairs the design recalls.
Specifications
- Size: 46 x 48 x 85 cm (SD300)
- Frame: chromed or painted steel tube
- Seat and back: polypropylene
- Type: stacking chair
Story
A simple chair with attention to detail
Enzo Mari loved archetypal shapes. Mariolina is only apparently a simple, minimal chair, and attention to detail turns a humble seat into an intelligent object.
Legs and backrest
The slim legs and the curved backrest are designed to give comfort and easy posture without compromising the aesthetic and style of the chair. It is described as a basic chair that is also a manifestation of Mari's design vision, simple, practical, long-lasting and affordable.
