Description

Overview

Marechiaro is a modular shelving system by Philippe Nigro. It works as shelving and an openwork screen: one face stores books and objects, while the other is formed by wooden slats.

Construction

The system is made entirely from machined solid wood. Natural ash combines natural shelves with natural and black-stained slats; black-stained ash combines black-stained shelves with bronze-patina and black-stained slats.

Representative module

The natural-ash concave element measures 870 x 870 x 2,300 mm (W x D x H). Straight, concave and convex modules can form alcoves or perforated partitions.

Story

A screen-cabinet

Marechiaro gives a bookcase a second face. Shelves hold books and objects on one side, while openwork slats preserve transparency on the other. The result is described by Ligne Roset as a screen-cabinet rather than a conventional wall-bound bookcase.

Space within space

Straight, concave and convex elements allow the system to bend around zones and build alcoves or perforated walls. Two-tone slats change the reading of the structure with the observer's angle.
