Story
A saddle for the living room
De Padova describes Louisiana as a chair born from the lines of a horse saddle. Vico Magistretti, who began his long collaboration with De Padova in the 1970s and became the central designer of its own collection, shaped a firm leather outer shell whose decorative seams trace its curves, wrapped around a soft, removable interior.
Materials that age well
The shell is cut from full-grain, vegetable-tanned and aniline-dyed cowhide, chosen because it grows more beautiful as it ages. A cotton border outlines the inner lining, and the seat and lumbar cushions are filled with goose down — a combination of handcraft and comfort that De Padova still produces, together with the matching pouf, more than thirty years after its 1993 debut.
