Korpus Shelf

Overview

The Korpus Shelf is a wall-mounted shelf designed for HAY by the Norwegian product designer Andreas Bergsaker. It is a multi-purpose shelf in sheet aluminium, a light, strong and recyclable metal.

Construction

• Body: sheet aluminium, formed by industrial stamping and punching into a curved column and top
• Finish: powder coated, high-gloss
• Mounting: keyhole slits at the back
• Hooks: concealed in the column
• Load: 10 kg in total on the shelf, 5 kg on each hook

From recyclable sheet metal

Korpus Shelf grew out of Andreas Bergsaker's wish to make a durable multi-purpose shelf from a recyclable material. The shelf is sheet aluminium, a metal known for its lightness, its strength and the way it can be reused over and over.

Curved column and top

An industrial stamping and punching process forms the column and the top into their distinctive curves. Keyhole slits at the back facilitate mounting, and hooks concealed in the column give additional hanging possibilities, so the shelf can serve as a hallway coat rack, a place for kitchen utensils or bathroom towels, or a display for ornaments.
