Description
Overview
Kelvin LED Base is a table lamp from Flos's Kelvin LED line: emitting direct light, with a double pantograph arm and an adjustable head. Flos credits the design to Antonio Citterio with assistant Toan Nguyen, 2009, and offers it in White and Black.

Flos describes a fused aluminium alloy body with a die-cast aluminium outer head and an injection-moulded methacrylate diffuser. The arm is an extruded aluminium alloy square tube (12×12 mm), CNC machined to house a stainless-steel load-compensation spring and injection-moulded acetal resin sliding blocks, with 3 mm steel wire outer tie rods and an ABS base cover.

Story
Spring inside the arm
The Flos description lists a double pantograph arm and an extruded aluminium alloy square tube of 12×12 mm that is CNC machined to house a stainless-steel load-compensation spring, together with acetal resin sliding blocks and 3 mm steel wire outer tie rods. The head carries an electronic ON/OFF switch with an optical sensor that dims the light.
Green Mode
An optional Green Mode enables automatic brightness adjustment for energy efficiency, according to Flos. The professional sheet lists the lamp as energy class F, with a service-replaceable LED source and an end-user-replaceable control gear.
