Overview
The Karuselli Ottoman is the companion piece to Yrjö Kukkapuro’s Karuselli Lounge Chair. Artek describes it as a continuation of Kukkapuro’s pursuit of comfort through function, ergonomics and organic form.
Construction
The top is upholstered in leather over PU foam padding, while the pedestal base is made from fibre glass. Artek offers the upholstery in the Sörensen Prestige Leather range.
Specifications
The official drawing gives a 53.5 cm horizontal dimension and a 38 cm height. It does not label or publish a separate depth axis for the ottoman.
Story
A companion within Karuselli
The ottoman extends the seating concept of the Karuselli Lounge Chair into a separate support. Artek dates the Karuselli design to 1964 and presents the ottoman together with the chair in its product leaflet.
Form and upholstery
Its padded upper element sits above a pedestal base, continuing the family’s use of fibre glass and leather. The leaflet documents black, white and red leather versions for the ottoman.
