Story

Inspired by the conquest of space

In 1966 Pierre Guariche developed a series of designs around a single block seat with round and welcoming shapes, one of them a seat with a swivelling high back. The conquest of space and technical innovations such as expanded polyurethane inspired the shapes of Jupiter.

Less than a year to the catalogue

The drawing was submitted on 24 October 1966, and less than a year passed before Jupiter appeared in the catalogue of Meurop, a Belgian company.
