Story
The only Kartell piece made entirely of wood
Kartell's page calls the armchair a true symbol of Sixties design, famous also for being the only piece by Kartell made entirely of wood. The Kartell Museo timeline gives it under 1965: Joe Colombo designs the 4801 armchair, comprised of three pieces with curved plywood grooving.
Remade in PMMA
The same product is now made in PMMA through industrial production systems. The timeline adds that the armchair has been reissued in plastic.
