Description
Perimeter access
Islands is an open freestanding container accessible around its perimeter. Individual slats pivot around central connections, changing the enclosure from compact to open.
Structure and tops
Contoured MDF forms the top and bottom. Aluminium slats, aluminium-and-steel bridge legs and nylon fixing details support wood, lacquered, marble or quartzite finishes.

Islands by Stephen Burks
Islands is a 2019 storage design by Stephen Burks. Apparent randomness in the slat arrangement gives the storage family changing degrees of openness.
Refined craftsmanship
The pivoting perimeter expresses refined craftsmanship. Access from several sides makes the moving slats functional as well as visual. The slats turn around a central pivot. Contoured feet provide floor support.
