Story
Between upholstery and mesh
Vitra's own description frames ID Trim as the answer to a choice: an upholstered backrest is comfortable but bulky, a mesh one is slim but lacks padding. Compact padding over a sandwich construction with integrated lumbar support is the company's way of offering the comfort of the first in nearly the silhouette of the second.
Padding that moves
The 2026 factbook explains how the back works. A cover stretched across the frame lets the multi-chamber padding move in three dimensions, firm at the lumbar zone, flexible in the middle and supportive at the shoulders. The stitching that holds the padding gives the chair its quilted appearance.
