Description

Overview

Grand Repos by Antonio Citterio (2011) is a swivel wing chair with a sheltered head section and a synchronised mechanism concealed beneath the upholstery.

Construction

  • V-Foam seat padding in applicable markets; UK versions use conventional polyurethane
  • Shaped polyurethane back around webbing, a plastic support and the reclining assembly
  • Replaceable textile or leather cover; four-arm cast-aluminium swivel foot

Specifications

  • US default: 740 × 810 × 1100 mm, with the lower of two seat positions
  • A version 50 mm higher is also listed

Story

A sheltered wing chair

The characteristic head section distinguishes Grand Repos from Repos. Vitra says it invites the sitter to lean back and creates a sense of shelter and seclusion, while selected upholstery versions use decorative seams.

Lockable reclining support

A synchronised mechanism hidden beneath the upholstery supports the back throughout the reclining angle and locks in the selected position. The official sheet also offers a slightly higher version.
