Description

Overview

The Foster 510 Bench by Foster + Partners Industrial Design pays tribute to the classic English club armchair, with a minimal form and maximum comfort. Fine stitched piping and gathering divide the surface, while the minimalist feet are delicate and stable. Versions with and without a backrest are available.

Construction

The frame is wooden. Cold cure foam in a sandwich construction, finished with an outer layer of wadding, forms the upholstery, and the seat contains a micro-compartment spring core of hundreds of pocket springs. The base is steel, highly polished, chrome-plated or powder-coated black matt, and it is fitted with felt glides or with stoppers that avoid sliding.

Specifications

  • Overall size: 71 x 71 cm (D x H, 510 models)
  • Frame: wood
  • Base: steel, with felt glides or stoppers

Story

A club armchair, reduced to a bench

The Foster 510 Bench takes the classic English club armchair as its model. Piping and gathering divide the surface, and the minimalist feet are delicate and stable.

A minimal aesthetic that shows its structure

Foster + Partners Industrial Design wanted to create a family of objects that follows a minimal aesthetic and expresses its structure through an elegant form. The structure appears transparent, and the upholstery references Walter Knoll's history.
