Description
Overview
Flat.C is an open wall system designed by Antonio Citterio in 2008. It can be reconfigured and reassembled around a modular grid intended to organise books, television and hi-fi equipment at shallow depth.

Construction
Painted aluminium extrusions form sides, crosspieces and base frames. Wood-fibre and wood-particle panels are used across tops and backs, with glass for upper tops and internal shelves. The sheet also lists metal supports, cable-management parts and an optional 24V DC, 3000K LED system.
Specifications
- Representative variant: low drawn composition
- Largest drawing values, not labelled with axes: 3005, 560 and 836 mm
Story
Storage within a shallow system
B&B Italia states that Flat.C was developed for homes where storage capacity must be fitted into limited space. Its stated nominal system depth is 25 cm, and the shelving thickness and sides were reduced while visible joints were avoided.
A modular grid
The grid limits proportions while permitting many configurations. The system is described as adaptable to changing multimedia equipment, combining open elements, tops, backs, drawers, flap doors and supports rather than prescribing a single permanent arrangement.
