Overview
The Fifty. Armchair is an indoor/outdoor armchair with a straight backrest and woven side elements at the headrest. Ligne Roset describes the chair as a sculptural presence that combines a minimalist steel structure with the warmth of hand-woven cord.
Construction
Its structure and base use sanded black-lacquered steel with anti-corrosion treatment and an anti-UV treated black polyester lacquer finish. The seat and back are woven with 350 m of mass-dyed, anti-UV treated polypropylene cord. Protective gliders are fitted to the base.
Specifications
The one-place version measures 735 mm wide × 880 mm deep × 1,125 mm high and has a 340 mm seat height. A seat/lumbar cushion in Dry-Feel foam is an optional accessory.
Story
A reading-oriented backrest
The Fifty. Armchair takes its starting point from Hans Wegner's Flag Halyard Chair, the metal-and-cord recliner designed in Denmark in 1950. Dögg & Arnved gave the chair a straight backrest intended to support rest as well as reading or watching television.
Woven intimacy
The woven ears at each side of the headrest reinforce the intimate character of the design. The combination of a restrained steel frame and hand-woven cord gives the chair a distinctive presence indoors and outdoors.
