Story

A model of clay and toothpicks

The page says Henningsen began the design with a small model made of modeling clay and toothpicks, as he often did. The frame was then built in his Copenhagen workshop and went through months of testing and adjustments before he was content.

Last design, rare first run

After the chair was completed in 1954, fewer than 20 pieces were produced. Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduced it in 2015.
