Description
Overview
The Ferdinandea bed, by the Poltrona Frau Style & Design Centre, reinterprets the restrained and measured forms of the classic sommier and adds soft lines and fine craftsmanship. It is upholstered in Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® (SC) leather with tone-on-tone seams, and a boiserie is coordinated with the bed. The SKU is 56864.
Construction
- Base: fir blockboard sides with a light polyurethane foam padding, and a poplar plywood footboard with the same light padding; the base comes in two heights
- Feet: on one base height, cylindrical in black painted aluminium or upholstered in Pelle Frau®, shaped steel with a gunmetal grey finish, or solid ash stained moka; the other base height takes cylindrical aluminium feet
- Metalwork: white coated sheet steel for the central beam, its feet and the corner plates, with felt pads on the metal parts
- Boiserie: birch plywood padded in polyurethane foam and polyester wadding, hung on a bayonet fixing in matt black painted metal; its leather carries a geometric design, horizontal or vertical, and its back is black canvas

Story
Reinterpreting the classic sommier
Ferdinandea takes the restrained forms of the sommier and gives them soft lines and fine craftsmanship. It is made for a minimalist style that keeps its elegance, in an enveloping and comfortable form.
An island of rest
The bed shares its name with the legendary Ferdinandea Island, which kept appearing and disappearing in the sea. Like the island, the bed is an object of desire and an island of rest that adapts to the most diverse environments, catching the eye and blending in at the same time.
