Description

Overview

The Do-Lo-Rez is listed by Moroso under Seating Systems and Sofas with the line "by Ron Arad, 2008". Moroso describes it as modular compositions with a pixel effect, built from elements that can be combined in countless ways.

Construction

The elements are injected flame-retardant polyurethane foam and polyester fibre over an internal wood frame, on a black plywood base with polypropylene feet. The cover of every module is removable, and Moroso names wool or felt covers as strongly recommended.

Specifications

  • Elements in the data sheet: armchair (001), element right and left in 138 and 207 widths (101 to 104) and an island of 161 x 138 (107)
  • Cover versions: six colour versions, each a predefined combination of colours and fabrics set by the designer
  • Dimensions: 138, 92 and 76 cm for the armchair (axes not labelled on the drawing)

Story

Ron Arad and Moroso

Moroso's page presents Ron Arad as an Israeli architect and designer who has worked for more than 25 years on the line between industrial design and contemporary art. The text says his plastic and conceptual research added to the company's interpretative sensitivity in the partnership with Moroso.

Compositions from standard modules

The Moroso data sheet credits the design as Ron Arad, 2008. Module covers come in the combinations of colour and fabric specified by the designer, and Moroso notes that larger projects can use standard modules to build personalised compositions.
