Description
Overview
Dip & Double Dip are two benches, designed by Chris Howker in 2004. They read as sculpted monoliths in which soft, curved forms, both concave and projecting, alternate with areas that look more squared-off. The impression is one of massive solidity combined with a refined minimalist look.
Construction
Each bench is built from a stainless steel sheet 1.5 mm thick with a circular sandblasted finish. Milling, bending and welding shape the sheet with a special technology. Galvanized steel feet and plastic ferrules complete the base.
Specifications
Overall size 230 x 47 x 44 cm (DIP and DIP2). The finish is stainless steel.
Story
Sculpted monoliths
Soft curves, concave and projecting, sit next to flatter, squarer areas, and that contrast is what makes each bench read as a monolith. Massive solidity and a refined minimalist look are the two qualities named for the pair.
Milled, bent and welded steel
The stainless steel sheet is 1.5 mm thick and has a circular sandblasted finish. Milling, bending and welding are the steps of the special technology used to give the sheet its form. There is a single size, in two different shapes.
