Overview
Develius Mellow (EV8A–EV8K) is a modular sofa by Edward van Vliet for &Tradition, dated 2024. It follows the original Develius of 2018 and brings a softer seat and a removable cover. The range has left and right armrest units, centre, corner, pouf, open-ended and chaise longue elements, and a second pair of armrest modules (EV8J, EV8K) with a 72 cm armrest.
Construction
The seat springs are no-sag springs, set in a wooden frame. All surfaces are padded in HR foam and covered with a duvet of shredded foam and polyester wadding. A simple inner canvas on each module makes the outer fabric removable, and metal brackets connect the modules. The wood is FSC® certified (FSC Mix). Strength, durability and safety testing follows EN 16139 Level 2, extreme use.
Specifications
Seating depth 65 cm, seat height 44 cm, overall height 72 cm, armrest height 60 cm. Modules are 97 cm deep (chaise longue modules 150 cm) and 97 cm or 119 cm wide. Configuration A (EV8A + EV8B) measures 238 × 97 × 72 cm. Available in a range of fabrics; a customer's own fabric needs &Tradition's approval.

Comfort and longevity come first in Edward van Vliet's Develius Mellow. The sofa builds on the original Develius of 2018 and grows out of van Vliet's continuing creative exploration and his ambition to create new design environments.
A state of lounging
The manufacturer calls the sofa an ever-evolving state of lounging: a modular design that adapts to the space it is placed in, with a notably softer seat and a cover that can be taken off.
