Story

A sofa rethought as a system

The Magis catalogue says development began with the question put to Stefan Diez: what if the sofa were completely rethought? Diez describes the aim as a system that could be completely dismantled, with as little polyurethane foam as possible and a cover that is washable and replaceable. He says the work took four years.

Recycled body, removable cover

The body is recycled and recyclable polyethylene made from furniture and car industry waste, and the cover is held on with tension belts so it can be removed at any time. According to the catalogue no glues are used, so all components can be disassembled.
