Overview
The Connect Bed is a minimalistic steel bed frame designed for HAY by the Danish designer Leif Jørgensen. It is flat-packed and easy to assemble, with an industrial look that joins traditional craftsmanship methods with computer-controlled tools.
Construction
- Frame: powder coated sheet steel, high-gloss
- Elements: two side rails and two end rails, slotted together and fastened with eight screws
- Support leg: soft black powder coated steel

Story
Craft and computer-controlled tools
Connect Bed combines the thinking of traditional craftsmanship with the computer-controlled tools that are now common in contemporary design. The result is a bed frame with a minimalistic, industrial look and a razor-sharp, precise execution.
Joints as detail
Two side rails and two end rails slot together and are fastened with eight screws. Embedded in the bare frame, the screws turn into a detail in themselves, and the joints refer to conventional carpentry work.
