Clarence Bookcase

Overview

Clarence is a Flexform storage system designed for the home. This library entry represents the 02F762 cabinet variant shown in the official technical sheet, with a low, wide profile and softened contours. Its rounded corners lighten the volume, while the back is finished so the piece can stand freely in a room.

Construction

The structure is available in veneered wood with a cowhide cladding. Wood options include Canaletto walnut, ash, oak and wenge veneers. The doors and drawer fronts create a restrained textural contrast with the cowhide. The drawers use a push-pull opening mechanism, and the feet are painted matt black.

Specifications

The 02F762 representative cabinet measures 900 mm wide × 550 mm deep × 700 mm high. Flexform also lists other Clarence cabinet elements, including versions with drawers, a glass shelf, a mirror and a drop-front door; those are separate configurations in the same technical sheet.

A storage system for different areas

Flexform describes Clarence as a storage system whose elements can move naturally between living and sleeping areas. The family includes nightstands, chests of drawers, sideboards, a TV stand and a bar cabinet.

Softened volume and tactile contrast

Antonio Citterio's design is identified by its softened contours and rounded corners. The veneered wood structure and cowhide cladding bring together the discipline of a storage element and a more tactile, sartorial detail. Because the pieces are finished on the back, Flexform says they can also act as room dividers.
