Description
Overview
Cinetique is a floor lamp designed by Martin Hirth for Ligne Roset. Its articulated counterbalance system allows many positions and orientations of the light source, so the lamp works as a floor lamp and as a reading light. Angling the shade towards a wall or ceiling gives general indirect lighting; turned towards a settee, reading armchair or table it gives directional light.
Construction
The frame is epoxy satin black lacquered steel tubing of 20 mm diameter on a round steel base of 40 cm diameter. The cable is black textile, and a black foot-operated switch/dimmer controls the light. The light source is a 20 W LED module emitting 2,100 lumens, the equivalent of a 150 W incandescent bulb, at a colour temperature of 3000 K (warm white).
Specifications
Fully unfolded: 1,700 mm wide x 2,310 mm high. Weight 24 kg.
Story
An articulated counterbalance arm
The design of the Martin Hirth Cinétique light is as rigorous as its technical side. The articulated counterbalance system makes a multiplicity of positions and orientations of the light source possible, which is why the piece is as much a floor lamp as a reading light.
Indirect and directional light
With the shade angled towards a wall or ceiling the lamp gives general indirect lighting. Turned above a settee, a reading armchair or a table, it gives directional light. The 20 W LED module emits 2,100 lumens at 3000 K and is controlled by a foot-operated switch/dimmer.
