Description
Overview
The Chute Libre occasional table by Vital Lainé for Ligne Roset assembles scrap: MDF, particle board, plywood and several solid woods (beech, ash, oak, maple, sycamore). Light wood veneer, either oak or ash, covers the face and back panels.
Construction
Scraps are sorted, then built up in layers that alternate different types of wood in order to create homogeneity. The table is hollow inside, which makes it lighter. The assembly of scrap decides each piece, so no two pieces are the same.
Specifications
440 x 300 x 400 mm (W x D x H), weight 17 kg.
Story
Doing with very little
The Chute Libre project is part of a desire to do with very little, promoting scrap wood from standardised panels such as chipboard, medium and laminated board.
A new solid wood from scraps
The scraps are sorted and assembled by accumulation of layers. Dictated by the variety of thicknesses, formats, species and finishes, a new solid wood comes to life, with organic shapes and a hybrid material.
