CH445 Wing Chair

Overview

The CH445 Wing Chair is a high-backed, fully upholstered easy chair on a stainless steel frame. Carl Hansen & Søn says Hans J. Wegner designed it in 1960, when only a few examples were made, and relaunched it in 2006.

Construction

• Inner frame: solid beech under the upholstery
• Upholstery: shaped and dense to support back, shoulders, neck and head in different sitting positions
• Base: slender round stainless steel; front legs tilt slightly forward, rear legs protrude far backwards
• Details: four small cone-shaped steel elements join the upper part to the frame; a steel shoe on each leg

Designed in 1960, relaunched in 2006

The manufacturer's text says the Wing Chair was designed in 1960 when only a few examples were produced, and that Carl Hansen & Søn relaunched it in 2006.

A special edition

The page for the Special Edition variants describes three monochrome colourways in 100% wool textiles on painted stainless steel legs: Clay White with RAL 1013, Deep Burgundy with RAL 3007 and Pebble Brown with RAL 8019.
