Story
A material new to furniture
Carl Hansen & Søn writes that the introduction of the CH25 caused a stir because of Wegner's choice of material. Woven paper cord, a replacement for seagrass developed during the Second World War, had not been used in furniture before. Wegner liked its look and its non-stretching, durable character.
Still in production
The company says the chair has stayed very popular and has been in continuous production since 1950, and calls this a testament to Wegner's visionary approach.
