Description
Overview
The CH22 Lounge Chair is a wooden lounge chair with a paper cord seat. Carl Hansen & Søn gives 1950 as the year it was manufactured from and says it was part of Hans J. Wegner's debut collection for the company. After several decades out of production, the company took it up again in 2016.

Construction
The page points to a large, distinctive wooden back with visible cover caps. At the sides the arm support wraps around the side stretcher and the seat frame and widens under the armrest. At the back the paper cords run down around the seat frame and through a horizontal groove in the back rail, and at the front of the seat two joints lead the front legs up through hand-assembled corners.

Story
Manufactured from 1950
The product page says the CH22 was manufactured from 1950 and belonged to the debut collection that Hans J. Wegner made for Carl Hansen & Søn. In that collection the chairs were wooden, with seats of paper cord in place of upholstery.
Back in Production
After several decades out of the production line, the company began making the CH22 again in 2016. It states that the principles of craftsmanship are still those of the family-owned workshop in 1950, where Wegner followed and took part in making the first examples.

Modern production has improved precision, and the front legs, originally round, now share the profile of the back legs, as Wegner drew them on his technical drawing.
