Description
Overview
Carteggio is a tall single unit by Aldo Rossi, dated 1987 on Molteni&C's datasheet, which describes it as a wood writing desk with drawers and a pull-out top protected by a blind. The page counts nine drawers stacked in a vertical line, each of a different proportion, a closed compartment behind double doors and an open space at the top for consulting papers.

Construction
The base and intermediate top are a honeycomb-core panel faced with sliced American walnut (Juglans nigra). Exterior sides are plywood faced with walnut; the lid, back, doors and drawer fronts are particleboard faced with walnut; the pull-out top is plywood faced with walnut with details in heartwood. The shutter and the knobs are American walnut heartwood.
Specifications

Story
Memory and ritual
Molteni&C introduces Carteggio as a tall, ordered structure that embodies Rossi's fascination with memory, ritual and the poetry of daily gestures. The page says the unit was designed for documents and treasured objects, and calls it an addition to an office or a living space.
A concealed work area
The upper space expands through a pull-out shelf and can be hidden by a rolling top, which the page describes as a solution for both display and discretion. Spherical wooden handles fit the drawers, doors and roll top, and the first drawer has a small mignon lock.
