Overview
Antonio Citterio designed Carlotta in 1996. Flexform traces its practical, austere character to the Bauhaus and highlights the visible joint screws on the metal structure.
Construction
The frame is offered in six metal treatments and uses thermoplastic pads below. Its top may be wood with resistant black or white paint, glossy lacquer in fifteen colours, or selected walnut, ash and oak finishes.
Specifications
Representative code: 013U70. Dimensions: 57 cm diameter × 53 cm high. A separate Break version is also documented.
Story
Construction left visible
Carlotta does not conceal the way its frame is joined. Flexform identifies the exposed screws as a defining part of the unornamented design, making assembly legible rather than decorative.
Two related forms
The circular 013U70 provides two levels inside a ring frame. The 013U74 Break variant changes to a compact rectangular, cantilevered outline, while preserving the direct metal-and-top vocabulary.
