Overview
Betwixt is a low-profile side chair by Studioilse, developed as an adaptable seat for residential and contract environments. Its standard-height seat is paired with an overall height lower than many side chairs.
Construction
A robust steel frame can be combined with solid wood, upholstery, or composite cork for the seat and back. The official specifications offer armed and armless versions, while the current price book lists polymer glides for multiple floor surfaces.
Specifications
The representative armless model measures 18.5 in W × 19 in D × 29.25 in H, with an 18.75-inch seat height and 17-inch seat depth on the product specifications page.
Story
An Everywhere Chair
Studioilse created Betwixt after Ilse Crawford and Oscar Peña identified the need for a chair that could move between different environments. The design pairs a sturdy frame with several seat and back treatments instead of tying the chair to a single setting.
A Changing Profile
The back legs were shaped to appear different as the viewing angle changes. A conventional seat height within a comparatively low overall profile lets Betwixt retain a clear visual line when it is placed under a table.
