Overview

Belleville Armchair Wood, designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec in 2015, places its armrests within the curved structural frame. A moulded plywood shell sits inside the injection-moulded polyamide structure.

Material and options

• Deep-black polyamide base and frame

Armrests within the structure

The armrests rise from the same curved frame that supports the shell. Vitra describes this continuity as a characteristic feature of the model and identifies comfort as a purpose of the armrest form.

Shell alternatives

The wooden-shell edition is one of several Belleville Armchair versions. Vitra also offers a plastic shell and covered options in leather or fabric, while the recorded US recommendation uses the natural-oak wooden shell.
