Description
Overview
Barrel is GamFratesi's armchair for Minotti. Minotti describes a bold, sculptural impact that gives the 1970s a new interpretation, with soft lines that shape a full-bodied, enveloping form on a cantilevered tubular metal frame.

Construction
- Frame: cantilevered tubular metal, 30 mm in diameter, Black Coffee (polished, anti-fingerprint) or Chrome
- Shell: metal under a layer of fire-resistant polyurethane foam of high resilience
- Seat suspension: webbing made from synthetic rubber and polypropylene
- Cushions: polyurethane foam of variable density; covers can be removed completely
Specifications
- Armchair: W 103 x D 102 x H 71 cm
- Footstool: 83 x 63 x 38 cm
Story
An exposed, suspended frame
Minotti points to the cantilevered tubular frame as a defining design element rather than just a support: it is deliberately exposed and suspended, it holds the seat and gives a subtle springiness that adds to the perception of softness and lightness.
One continuous rounded element
A padded, rounded element with a uniform profile outlines the shape and wraps the seat from behind. Stitching at 45 degrees on the corners, with small gathers, sets the rhythm of the piece. Backrest and seat are two separate cushions, slim in outline and richly proportioned. A matching footstool mirrors the contours.
