It is crafted in solid wood with a moulded plywood backrest, with a refined mechanism within the backrest. The variant pages list a lacquered beech shell and a lacquered solid beech frame, with plastic gliders.

Story
A folding chair that does not feel secondary
HAY's news item says the chair reads as a conventional wooden dining chair until the backrest rotates and it folds. Gudmundur Ludvik says folding chairs have long been a challenge for him, and that the chair should not feel like secondary seating.
Form from function
The page says form emerges from the materials and construction, with the mechanism hidden in the backrest. Rolf Hay says there is something intelligent and original behind the simple look.
