Description
Overview
The Azores Floor standard lamp taupe is a floor lamp by Sebastian Herkner for Ligne Roset. A cylindrical aluminium base carries a lampshade in repoussé aluminium, and the light is directed towards the inside of the shade for indirect lighting.
Construction
The base and the shade are aluminium. The satin white lacquered interior of the shade improves light reflection. The light source, a 17 W LED module rated 2,176 lumens at 2700 K (warm white), is integrated into the top of the cylindrical base; the LED light fixture is interchangeable. The lamp has a black PVC electric cable and a black foot switch/dimmer, and it is dimmable.

Overall size: 550 x 690 x 1,470 mm (W x D x H). Weight: 23.5 kg. Total consumption with the power supply is 19 W, and the residual consumption when the lamp is off is 0.5 W.
Story
A shade that shelters the light
Sebastian Herkner's Azores lamp takes its reference from the traditional cloaks worn by women in the Azores Islands, recognisable by their large, protective hoods. In the lamp the reference becomes a generously sized shade that appears to shelter the light. The lamp has a strong sculptural presence that is expressive and enveloping.
Light from the base
The LED source sits in the top of the cylindrical base and shines into the shade. The satin white lacquered inside of the shade reflects the light for visual comfort, and a foot switch/dimmer sets the level of the indirect lighting.
