Arne

Overview

Arne (2005, Antonio Citterio) is a sofa with a curved shape that envelops the user. B&B Italia says it was designed to create the setting for leisure activities, and that it works in the centre of a room or against a wall. Seat and backrest seem suspended on aluminium supports.

Construction

• Frame inside: steel tube and profile sections, with cold-shaped flexible polyurethane foam and a polyester-fibre cover over them
• Seat cushion: shaped polyurethane with sterilized down, covered in polyester fibre
• Back cushion (A60_C): down feather and polyester fibre, envelope style
• Supports: die-cast aluminium and extrusions, with the feet 14 cm (5 1/2 in) from the ground
• Cover: fabric or leather

A shape that envelops

Centre or wall

The page calls it perfect in the centre of the room, and adds that against a wall it loses none of the comfort and lightness conveyed by the aluminium supports under the seat and backrest.
