Story
Light without a ceiling point
Flos presents Arco as a lamp that needs no ceiling suspension. The designers took the idea from street lighting and adapted it for a home.
Recognition
The Flos page names a Product Lifetime Achievement Award for Arco. Wikipedia reports that in 2020 it was one of three designs given the Products Career Award, a category of the Compasso d'Oro for historical designs that were not awarded when they appeared, and that the lamp has been in constant production since 1962.
