Overview
Ansel is a stand-alone outdoor sofa by Antonio Citterio, dated 2020 by Flexform. The manufacturer describes an unexpected combination of materials: armrests and backrests of massive wood slats fitted into a stainless-steel base.
Construction
The base is 316 stainless steel with an epoxy powder-coat finish, clad in water-repellent elastic webbing. Backrest and armrest are solid iroko wood, and the feet are cast aluminium on thermoplastic tips. Seat cushions are outlined with grosgrain piping.

Story
Wood against steel
Flexform sets the bold expressiveness of the wood against the lightness of the stainless-steel base. The backrests and armrests are built of slats in massive wood, and the base is finished in an array of epoxy powder-coat colours.

Seat depths are 84 cm and 124 cm, and there are two- and three-seat versions.
