Story

Craft techniques in one chair

In the press release, Anderssen & Voll say that to reach Allwood's form, comfort and strength they turned to different woodworking techniques: milled solid oak, laminated bottom rails and form-pressed curved sheets of laminated veneer.

The back stretcher

The designers explain that a chair's back stretcher is traditionally a constructive element tucked under the seat to connect the legs. In Allwood it moved upwards so that it also supports the back, which made for more compact stacking and turned it into a strong graphic element.
