Story

A shell-like enclosure

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec designed Abalon in 2022. Vitra names it after the shell of a sea snail and describes the sofa as solid yet light, with concave and convex surfaces.

Built for renewal

The two knitted covers are separate and removable for cleaning or replacement. This makes the upholstery system part of the product’s long-term serviceability.
