Description
Overview
Aaland Armchair is an upholstered armchair from Kartell’s AALAND collection, designed by Patricia Urquiola. The manufacturer describes the collection through soft, organic shapes that extend and merge like neighbouring islands, creating a fluid landscape for socialising. The chair is presented as a compact element that can be moved and rearranged with the other upholstered pieces.
Construction
The seat uses differentiated-density non-deformable polyurethane foam and polyester fibre around an internal wood frame. The back uses a cold-moulded polyurethane element around a wood frame. Both are fabric covered, while the feet are made from thermoplastic technopolymer. The product sheet identifies a removable cover and lists the Bouclé New Stretch upholstery programme.
Specifications
The representative 6267 armchair measures 120 × 125 × 72 cm overall, with a 42 cm seat height shown in the AALAND 2024 technical sheet. The current US product page identifies the Bouclé New Stretch Indigo configuration as SKU 06267K5. The product sheet lists six Bouclé New Stretch colours.
Story
A composition of compact forms
Kartell presents the AALAND armchair as part of an upholstered landscape in which soft seats can connect and complement one another. Patricia Urquiola’s design uses compact proportions so the individual pieces can be moved and rearranged as the setting changes.
A rounded graphic language
The AALAND family pairs its seating with rugs whose motif places two rounded forms close together and joins them with a stitch-like graphic element. Kartell describes this detail as a visual accent that adds vibrancy to the surrounding composition.
