Description

Overview

The 1140 is a multi-functional table by Werner Aisslinger, designed in 2021 as a "community hub". Solid oak legs and unobtrusive corner connectors carry the top.

Construction

The legs are solid oak, rounded on the outer edge in a quarter circle. A 4.2 cm strip-core panel with oak veneer forms the top, with rounded corners and oak-veneered edges, and connectors at the corners join legs and top.

Specifications

  • Size: 200 x 100 x 75 cm (W x D x H)
  • Top: strip-core panel, 4.2 cm thick, with real-wood oak veneer
  • Frame: solid oak, clear lacquered or lightened lacquered
  • Connectors: polished aluminium or black grey RAL 7021

Story

A community hub

Werner Aisslinger designed the 1140 as a "community hub" that brings together functionality, versatility and elegant simplicity. The table is billed with the line "You can dance on it" and is described as solid yet light and understated yet impressive.

Connecting legs and top

Joining the legs to the top in a pleasing way was the biggest challenge, says Aisslinger. Die-cast aluminium connectors in the corners are integrated almost invisibly into the legs and the tabletop, so the top appears almost to float above four solid-wood legs.
