Biography
Background
Theresa Rand runs Studio Theresa Rand in Copenhagen, working on furniture and interior design projects. She first studied languages at the University of Cologne and graduated in 2005, then studied architecture at the Peter Behrens School of Architecture in Düsseldorf, Germany. She went on to graduate with a Master of Arts in Architecture and Furniture Design at the Royal Academy of Arts in Denmark.
Signature Style
The studio's work centres on natural, authentic and lasting materials, their tactile qualities, the way they are combined and the atmosphere they create in a space. She aims to make functional but poetic furniture with a story to tell, and spaces with a warm atmosphere for the people who live in them.
Notable Works
Her first introductory pieces for Audo Copenhagen were sketched while she worked freelance with design offices such as Norm Architects and Space Copenhagen. Audo Copenhagen lists the Turning Table, the Échasse Vase and the Échasse Bowl as her designs. Her studio site also shows the Rand Side Table in steel, manufactured by New Works.
Legacy
The studio continues its practice in interior and furniture design from Copenhagen.
