약력
배경
필립 니그로(Philippe Nigro)는 응용미술을 전공했습니다. 리옹의 라 마르티니에르(La Martinière)에서 바칼로레아 F12 과정을 거친 뒤 산업디자인 BTS를, 파리 불(Boulle) 학교에서 제품 및 가구 디자인 DSAA를 수료했습니다. 재학 중에는 C. 가르데(C. Gardet)와 함께 루아르 강변 샤토드쇼몽의 정원 '아이외르(Ailleurs)'를 디자인했으며, Habitat 공모전 수상작인 플락(Flac) 조명을 선보였습니다. 1999년부터 프리랜서 디자이너로 활동해 왔으며, 밀라노의 스튜디오 데 루키(De Lucchi)와도 협업하고 있습니다.
시그니처 스타일
니그로는 가구에서 무대 연출 프로젝트에 이르기까지 단순하면서도 본질에 충실한 디자인을 추구합니다. 그는 디자인에서 가장 먼저 고려해야 할 것은 프로젝트에 담는 의미라고 말합니다. 가족 경영 기업과 작업할 때는 회사가 지닌 폭넓은 문화를 바탕으로, 이를 더욱 개인적인 언어로 풀어냅니다.
주요 작품
니그로는 리그 로제(Ligne Roset)를 위해 컨플루언스(Confluences) 소파(2009)를 비롯해 플락스(Flax), 필레아스(Philéas), 마나롤라(Manarola), 에미시클(Hémicycle), 마레키아로(Marechiaro), 에비사(Evisa), 킬트(Kilt)를 디자인했습니다. 이전 작품으로는 스파이럴(Spiral) 선반, 스토리지 유닛(Storage-Unit) 서랍장, 인터섹션(Intersection) 디반, 트윈 체어(Twin-Chairs), 트레토 테이블 베이스(Tréteau) 등이 있습니다.
레거시
인터섹션 디자인은 리그 로제가 생산한 컨플루언스 패브릭 가구 컬렉션으로 이어졌으며, 컨플루언스 소파는 이 브랜드와의 오랜 협업의 시작점이 되었습니다.
