Biography
Background
Francesca Muzio is an architect and designer who founded the interior-architecture studio FM Architettura and, later, the furniture studio Craft. Poltrona Frau describes her as based between Milan and Ancona; the Interni dossier places the studio in Ancona, with a branch in Milan's Brera district. Her early experience was in classical architecture with Renzo Piano and 5+1 Architetti Associati, followed by passenger ships with Giacomo Mortola for Princess Cruises and about ten years as design director for the Ferretti Group brands, including the CRN and Custom Line yards.
Signature Style
Muzio opened her own studio in 2009. Interni says it designs superyachts, villas, towers and resorts, and quotes her saying that every project is customised and that inspiration comes from clients' stories, memories and dreams. Poltrona Frau credits her with combining architectural precision with emotion and memory.
Notable Works
- Karin sofa, credited to Craft on the Poltrona Frau page
- Stella sofa, "Designed by Francesca Muzio for Craft" on its Poltrona Frau page
- Superyacht interiors for yards such as Feadship, Benetti, The Italian Sea Group, Rossinavi and Tankoa, and hotel projects named by Interni, among them the Shangri-La and the Mandarin Oriental
Legacy
Poltrona Frau notes that she appears in the AD100 list and that her work spans superyachts, private residences and luxury hotels. With Craft she brings the same approach to furniture.
