デザインの特徴
ヴェルナーは、ヨーロッパの各メーカー向けの家具デザインに加え、広告代理店、住宅、店舗、見本市の展示など、インテリアデザインのプロジェクトも手がけています。トーネットによれば、彼は空間コンセプトにも家具にも「シンプルさの中にある緊張感（the suspense in simplicity）」を追求しており、抑制の効いた全体像、均整のとれたプロポーション、洗練されたディテールが彼の仕事の特徴だといいます。彼にとってデザインとは主に直感に基づく姿勢の問題であり、形と素材を通して感情を表現するものなのです。
代表作
トーネットのデザイナーページには、同ブランドのために手がけた3点が掲載されています。2001のベントウッド製アームチェア、2002/C002のベントウッド製ソファ、そして2002 Hのオットマンです。トーネットはこれらを「2000」シリーズとしてまとめて紹介しており、同社の製品ページではその発表年を2015年としています。
