Biography

Move to Vietnam

Barbara Kühne left the United States at the age of 24, hoping to discover new horizons. Impressed by Vietnam, she decided to remain there, and the move began an entirely new career.

Meeting Michel Kuehne

In 1999 she met Michel Kuehne, who was based in Saigon, a young Swiss entrepreneur and founder of Wetter Indochine, a business that specialises in lacquered goods. They were brought together by a mutual love of Vietnam and of design.

Vietnamese artisans

Together they found a way of showing the world the talent of Vietnamese artisans, which combines colour, Western design and quality. Her creations for Ligne Roset are the Ellipso, Squircle, Fake and Indigo trays and trinket boxes, the Carmin trinket box and the Enoki occasional table.
