Collection Story

Origin

The Visu family is Muuto's wooden-shell seating by the Finnish designer Mika Tolvanen. Tolvanen says he wanted to design "a fresh, updated version of the ubiquitous plywood chair" and, after studying many classic plywood chairs, found a way to add his own perspective. He and Muuto then worked for four years on the structure, the curves and the details before the design was introduced.

Design Language

Muuto presents Visu as a new perspective on the iconic wooden chair, with a shell in form-pressed wood veneer and an at once modern and comfortably functional character. Tolvanen describes a recognisable yet fresh appearance in which a simple, strong profile makes the design modern yet timeless.

Stools

Muuto's pages for the two stools describe a small curved back and long elegant legs, made from form pressed oak.
