Utopia

Origin

Utopia is a Ligne Roset range by Eric Jourdan built on the doucine, a moulding made from two arcs of a circle, concave and convex at once. The doucine sits at the heart of the range's originality and technical complexity. It produces a harmonious wave-like shape, a natural undulation that, with a subtle flaring, breaks up a structure that would otherwise be rectilinear and impersonal.

Design Language

The range asserts its personality through several customizations, above all the top, which comes in ceramic stoneware or verde marble. On each piece the front carries the doucine detailing, tapered towards the top and broader at the bottom, so that the unit is slightly narrower at the top. The front corners have a hollow joint that seems hewn from the body of the unit, and pairing two veneers, dark-stained walnut and natural varnished cherry, sharpens that effect. The top is set back from the doors and sides. An optional light on the right-hand side of the occasional unit illuminates the whole interior, triggered by a door sensor through a smoked grey diffuser, using miniature 2nd generation LEDs.

Key Pieces

Four pieces make up the range: a 3-door sideboard, a 4-door sideboard, an occasional unit and a bar unit. The 3-door sideboard has one single and one double space for large trays, while the occasional unit has 3 shelves.
