Collection Story
Origin
Studio is a chair series from Normann Copenhagen, drawn by Simon Legald. The manufacturer describes it as multi-purpose, made for domestic and public spaces alike, and says the series includes chairs, armchairs and barstools in two heights.
Design Language
Normann Copenhagen points to the graphic quality of the slender steel frame, which grows out beneath the seat and back and holds the molded shell. The flowing lines are likened to a pictogram, and the empty space between frame and back is said to help define the shape. The veneer-and-tubing build is tied to older French factory chairs. Every model is stackable, which the manufacturer links to restaurants and educational facilities with a need for transformable areas, and the steel frame gives a convenient hold for moving the pieces.
