Collection Story

What the name refers to

Saki is a family of seats by nendo for Minotti. "Saki" means blooming in Japanese, and nendo pays tribute to the unfolding of flower buds. The family is recognisable by sinuous support panels for the backrest and armrests; each panel is either lacquered, in a choice of shades, or covered in fabric or leather.

The indoor range

The indoor range is built on modularity. The sofas have two, three or four seats and come in two depths; the other pieces are an armchair with or without armrests, benches and island-like elements in several configurations. The seats are large with a curvilinear outline and a piping that follows the perimeter. The cast aluminium feet are curved and are used on every element of the family. The armchair can also stand on a square floor base with rounded corners, swivelling or fixed, and the footstool is listed with a base as well.

Outdoor versions

Saki Outdoor and Saki Cord Outdoor are the open-air versions. Saki Outdoor has glossy lacquered panels, while Saki Cord Outdoor has panels in woven wicker-effect cord. Both come as sofas of two, three or four seats, elements in two depths, armchairs, benches and islands; the islands rest on curved fixed feet or turn on a swivel base. Under the cushions is a marine-grade plywood structure with water-repellent polyester upholstery; the cast aluminium feet are varnished Pewter.

Saki Table

The Saki "Table" is a separate piece whose sculptural base recalls the sinuous design of the Saki seats. The top is square or rectangular with a rounded perimeter and corners, and a large rectangular version has a double supporting leg.
